'She seemed to be doing well… until Year 10.' 'She coped pretty well… until sixth form.' 'Everything fell apart when she started university.'
For many girls with ADHD, the difficulties don’t appear overnight—they emerge when educational transitions increase the demands on executive functioning, independence, emotional regulation and social navigation.
This session explores why key transition points (for example, Year 9 to 10, Year 11 to 12 and Year 13 to university, apprenticeships or work) can become tipping points. Dr Curran will examine what commonly changes at home and in school, why previously successful coping strategies appear to stop working, and how ADHD coaching, alongside clinical and educational support, can help young people build confidence, resilience and independence. Real-life case studies will bring these transitions to life and demonstrate practical approaches that make a lasting difference.
